Ok as everyone know Necrons is one of the teams in the 40k universe that tends to stand up after being blow to pieces. Also their weaponry is rather hard hitting if not very specialized.
First of you need to have a plan to get through that really irritating "We'll Be back" save that makes Necrons into what they are. I recommend using one or two Exorcists or if you want leman russes with Battle cannon. That will deal with their troops, the common Necron warrior they won't however deal with everything and you need to be prepared to take out their Destroyers and heavy destroyers. If you don't feel like using tanks or just doesn't think that's enough you should use plasma-gun equipped storm troopers against them. Works like a charm.
The key to doing this is to overwhelm the Destroyers with gunfire bolters is good but it feels like heavy bolters will perform better, alot better. So I'd use a squad of retributors probably about 8 of them with 4 equipped with heavy bolters. That way you will reach them if they can reach you. And keep your retributors near your exorcists.
Parahs doesn't get "We'll be back" rolls nor do they have better armour save than normal Necrons. Given enough fire power they will crumble in a turn or two even from standard bolters, don't bother with hellguns unless there is no other target. Beware the new rules of running though as they will close faster than before.
Wraiths isn't really a problem unless there's 3 of them or more. 1 can at best hold up your unit for a turn or so and will die and not be able to roll a we'll be back since there isn't any other models of that kind nearby.
The immortals are one of the most expensive units in the necron army at least infantry-wise. Great for getting VP but they are though the normal Battle cannon doesn't instant kill these fellas. With a higher AP and strength on their weapons they can mow down quite alot of troops before going down if they are underestimated. Multimeltas are a good choice against them. Pentinent engines could work against them but I don't think they would reach them that often.
Tomb spiders is quite slow and cumbersome and they always take a supportive role in the necron army. Killing them means that it will be harder for the necrons to utilize the "We'll be back" rolls to their fullest however it's not the highest priority.
Monoliths these bad boyz are a nightmare to take down (at least with my experiences with them) if you have any lascannons in the army you should keep on bombaring the monoliths. Steady volleys of lascannon fire will eventually bring them down or render them useless.
The only assassin I would use against the necrons would be the vindicare temple assassin. Pinning tests and the ability to kill their lords is a good thing.
So use these guidelines when fighting Necron forces: 1. Remember that every unit that the necron player has is vital to their plan. They do not have much room for sacrifical more than the scarab swarms. 2. Bring down as many "Necron" units as you can this will cause them to phase out. your primary targets for that should be the necron warriors. They nearly always form the mainstay of the necron units to prevent them to phase out. 3.Your sisters are better off shooting at the necrons then fighting them in close combat, try to shoot as much as you can and only enter combats where you absolutely have to or where you can prevent their heavy weapons to fire. (Like seraphim squads fighting heavy destroyers). 4....
To be finished soon. (almost done)
